  • It's beginning to look a lot like.......

    Christmas?!?

Wait a minute, back up, I haven't even posted my Thanksgiving week yet!

So for Thanksgiving this year, my in-laws Keith & Sharon and Brock's brother Corey and three of their kids (his wife and daughter had work & school) came down from Oregon.  We kept busy by going to Brock's basketball games and we took them swimming and to Amazing Jakes.

Some friends of ours were in town from Houston (Rusty & Anita and their daughter Miranda) so they joined us for the Thanksgiving feast.  Silly me didn't take ANY pictures on Thanksgiving, I suppose I was too busy in the kitchen.  Such a bummer.  We enjoyed visiting with all who came.  Thanks Corey for making the drive down we enjoyed getting to be with you and your kids.

My in law's came for a couple weeks before and after Thanksgiving to help out with the kids like they always do during basketball season, and we REALLY appreciate it.  I don't know how we would get through the season without all the help we get.  Brody kept Keith very busy playing "Peter Pan & Captain Hook", seriously this kid will ask anyone who enters the house if they will play this with him, so visitors be prepared!

    Now on to Christmas!

I enjoy decorating for the holidays, so here is just a sneak peak.

I actually MADE these apothecary jars, I'm so proud!  They are fun to decorate for every season.

Last night we had the basketball team and their families over for a Christmas dinner, I'll try to post some more pics soon.

  • Austin's 6th Birthday Party

    HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY AUSTIN

    OctoberFun058 (Medium).JPG

Austin had a fun birthday party this year.  The party was two days after his actual birthday to make it more convenient for Brock & Kim to be there.  He kept calling it his "fake birthday".  A couple of his friends got sick the day before the party, so they were missed, hopefully the ones that were there had a good time!

So his birthday theme was batman, and they didn't have any batman pinata's, so I got creative and just glued on the batman paper plates that I had already bought for the party!  Ingenious.

I big thanks to Brody, Krista, Kim, Jackson, Brynlee, Patric, Denise, Tyler, Grant, Kyle, Tommie, & Alex!  Austin had a great time.  That night before he went to bed he said "thanks mom for throwing up my birthday party!"  Um, honey, I think you meant "throwing you a birthday party" and "you're very welcome".

  • Austin Turns 6!

    LegoBatmanInvitationXanga

It's official, my first born is now 6 years old!  Happy Birthday Austin!  We had a fun day.  We went to Cold Stone for a free birthday ice cream.  We went to my sister Kim's middle school girls championship basketball game, of which she is the coach, and they WON!  We headed to Chuck E. Cheese for some fun and games.  Then headed to IKEA because Austin chose IKEA Meatballs for his birthday dinner!  How cute is that?  AND....I don't have to cook, let's DO IT!

The party is Friday and should be lots 'o fun.  Bounce house, pinata, pin the tail on the donkey, cake & ice cream, friends, family, and fun!  Can't wait.

    AUSTIN AT 6
He is still that sweet and sensitive boy who really does think of others feelings and looks out for them.  What more could a mom ask for?  He is doing well in school and has made lots of new friends, he's even starting to actually remember their names...finally.  He LOVES being with his family and is always asking for a family movie night.  Is currently into anything and everything on the Disney channel.  Should a 6 year old be watching Hannah Montana & the Jonas Brothers?  He loves it.  Austin, I am so proud of you and the great example you set for your little brother, Brody.  He looks up to you and I am expecting you to continue to set that good example.  As you grow up and become more independent, I hope that I am doing my part in preparing you.  I pray that you will always be able to talk to me about ANYTHING and know that I love you always.

  • Widmer Cruisin' 2009

    IMG_0389 (Medium).JPG

WOW, what a vacation!  For those of you that didn't know, my maiden name is Widmer, thus the title "Widmer Cruisin' 2009".  We got back last week from our trip to Florida, where we spent 5 days at Disney World and then got to go on a 7 day Disney Cruise with my parents, in-laws, and all of my siblings and their families, 24 of us in all.  It was awesome.  Just today Austin said, "mom, wouldn't it be great if we could live on the Disney Cruise?"  Come to think of it, I could probably handle the four of us living inside a room about the size of my closet if I had someone to do all my cooking, cleaning, and entertaining for me, while I visit beautiful ocean beaches.  Okay, back to reality.

So here is our trip in pictures, enjoy!

We started out with our 5 days at Disney World.

    Day 1 - Animal Kingdom

    IMG_5905 (Medium)Tiff.JPG

Gross, disgusting, HUGE bats!  How do they sleep upside down?  Seriously?  Oh, and I might mention here that there was NO glass separating us from these bats!  Nothing, zip, zilch!

    IMG_0084 (Medium).JPG

I can't believe Tiff & I let Austin & Kai go on the Mt. Everest ride!  They were pretty scared when they got off, poor guys.

    IMG_5912 (Medium)Tiff.JPG

Days 2, 3, & 4 - Magic Kingdom.  Brock was still working, so he didn't get to come until day 4 (Magic Kingdom) and day 5 (Hollywood Studios).

The kids got to go to Kids Club everyday, where they had activities scheduled all throughout the day.  Can you say, mom & dad time...........ALONE!  Yahoo, Yippee, Hip Hip Hooray!  Oh, and the kids had fun too.

    IMG_0374 (Medium).JPG

    IMG_0375 (Medium).JPG

The entertainment on the ship was fabulous.  The nightly shows were amazing.  It's so fun because everyone recognizes the characters and songs.  So you get to just sit back and enjoy a show that would cost you a minimum of $50 per person to go to.

It was so sad to see it all come to an end.  I had Austin write a report about his trip.  This is what he had to say.

I swam in the pool and the ocean.

    And so did I!

A big THANK YOU to the two responsible for this trip.  Mom & dad, this trip would have never came to be if it wasn't for the two of you.  Thank you so much for all that you do for all of us.  We are indebted to you 4-eva.

  • Brody's 3rd birthday......bye bye binki's!

Seriously, these kids are just growing up WAY too fast people!

    Brody03

    Brody3

Brody turned 3 and we celebrated last week by taking him to Chuck E. Cheeses, is that cheating?  I didn't really have a choice, before his birthday Austin specifically said in his prayers one night "bless that we will get to go to Chuck E. Cheese for Brody's birthday".  Um, ok, I guess that's what we will do.  Krista, Jackson, Brynlee, Kim, and Paris joined us.

    Kindergarten010 (Medium).JPG

    Kindergarten006 (Medium).JPG

    Kindergarten007 (Medium).JPG

Afterwards we went back to our house to have Coldstone's Ice cream cake....OK so I'm cheating again, but I love an excuse to buy an ice cream cake!

    Happy Birthday Video

And we finally said GOODBYE to the BINKI'S!  Brody actually lost the only binki that wasn't cracked when we were on vacation this summer, so he hasn't used one since then, but we wanted to make it official so we tied one of the old binki's to some balloons and sent them on their way!  I started warning Brody about two months ago that we would say goodbye to the binki's once he turned three and that we would tie them to a balloon and they would go up to the sky, so he was actually really excited about it.

    Kindergarten011 (Medium).JPG

    Bye Bye Binki's video

    Brody at 3
He loves just about anything Austin loves.
Beats up on his big brother daily.
    Still LOVES Buzz Lightyear!
Insists on taking Buzz with us everywhere.
Wants to watch Buzz whenever he gets the chance.
Snuggles more than any child I have ever known, and I love EVERY minute of it!
Likes to work on puzzles and play with playdough.
Likes to sneak into our bed in the middle of the night when we are too tired to carry him back into his room.
Is basically your typical 3 year old, whom we love and adore!

  • Back to School...already?!?

    First day of KINDERGARTEN

    Kindergarten026 (Medium).JPG

    Kindergarten031 (Medium).JPG

    Kindergarten023 (Medium).JPG

School is in session and my baby is growing up way too fast.  Austin started Kindergarten last week and he did great!  He likes his new teacher, Mrs. Williams, and talks about some of the kids he plays with during recess.  The school however has been a mad house!  I know it's the first week of school and I have to expect it to be a little CRAZY, but seriously people!  I guess my biggest complaint is that there are 5...yes 5 Kindergarten classes and there is no separate area for them.  No separate drop off/pick up.  So imagine over 100 Kindergartners and all of their parents and then of course all of the 1st - 5th graders mixed in the bunch.  I really think there needs to be a separate area for these little ones or maybe I'm just being over protective over my little one?  No, there definitely needs to be a separate area.

I'm so proud of you Austin for being so brave during your first week of school!  You have always been so easy going and an obedient child and I hope this continues while you are at school.  I hope you make lots of new friends and that you treat them they way you want to be treated.  I think Mrs. Williams is lucky to have you!  We miss you while you are away and are always so excited when it's time for you to come home.  Brody asks every couple hours "where's Austin", he misses his big brother.

  • Surprise!

For those of you that don't follow me on Facebook, the surprise visitor was............my sister Tiffany and her 3 kids.

Here's the story.  A few days after we returned home from our trip to Utah, my sister Tiffany was flying home from SLC back to Boston and had a layover in Phoenix on Thursday.  She called me from the airport to tell me there was a chance she was going to get bumped and that she would call me back in a few minutes when she had more information.  With much anticipation she called back and sure enough her flight was over booked!  Since there were actually three of them getting bumped (four including her infant) she ended up getting $740 in Southwest airline vouchers.....SCORE!  They scheduled her for the flight the next morning at 7:00AM.  After some smart thinking, Tiff decided to ask them if there was any way she could be switched to the 3:00PM direct flight on Saturday instead to give her a little extra time in Arizona, and they did it!!!

Oh, just wait, the story doesn't end there.

After two days of way too much fun, we raced her to the airport on Saturday to catch her flight, and she ended up stuck in the check in line for too long and missed her flight by 5 minutes!!!  So we got ANOTHER day.  She successfully caught her flight out on Sunday afternoon and it just turned out to be the greatest weekend ever.  The kids had a great time playing with their cousins.  And me and my sisters had so much fun spending time together, the four of us went out late one night after all the kids were in bed (Thanks Brock for babysitting!) and saw the movie "My Sister's Keeper", which Kim & I had both read.  They almost had to kick us out of the movie theatre because we ended up sitting there visiting way after the movie had ended.
